Tubal Ligation Reversal Surgery

At NTTC Surgery Center, we specialize in tubal ligation reversal surgery, also known as tubal reanastomosis. Our team of experts have years of experience in performing this delicate microsurgery, and have helped many women regain their fertility.

The procedure itself involves reconnecting the fallopian tubes, which were previously cut, tied or blocked during the tubal ligation. It’s performed under general anesthesia, and typically takes about 2-4 hours. Recovery time varies for each individual, but most women are able to return to normal activities within a week or two.

Our success rates are among the highest in the field, and we offer a range of options and financing to make the procedure affordable. We understand how important starting a family can be, and we’re dedicated to helping you achieve that goal.

We work with Dr Sami Constantine with 21+ years of experience of performing tubal ligation reversals at a 60-70% rate of success.  Please do note that your Individual results may vary.

The surgery price covers the surgeon consultation fee, anesthesia fee, and the facility fee.  There may be fertility tests required to assess your suitability for the procedure and varies from case to case.  The fertility tests are not covered by the surgery price.

At NTTC Surgery Center, we offer an affordable  flat rate surgery price which covers the cost of surgery from consultation fee, anesthesia fee, and  facility fee, with no hidden fees or surprises. This does not cover any pre-surgery fertility tests that may be required based on your consultation with the surgeon.

Does Insurance cover tubal reversal ?

Typically, insurance does not cover the procedure. Tubal reversal surgery is costly, costing several thousand dollars in addition to anesthesia and hospital fees, as well as the cost of fertility tests required prior to the procedure.

How successful / effective is a tubal reversal? / What’s the pregnancy success rate?

For women under the age of 35, tubal reversals are 70–80% effective, compared to 30–40% for women over the age of 40. The kind of ligation employed could also have an impact; the less harm the ligation did to the fallopian tubes, the more probable it is that a reversal will be successful.

How long does it take to get pregnant after a tubal reversal?

The success rate of getting pregnant typically ranges from 40% to 85%. When it does happen, pregnancy usually occurs within the first year.

In addition to your age, factors that affect whether you get pregnant after tubal reversal include:

  • Your surgeon’s expertise and your particular tubal ligation procedure type
  • Length of your remaining fallopian tubes and their functionality and the percent of scar tissue in your pelvic region
  • Results of various fertility tests as well as the sperm count of your spouse

Is tubal reversal a major surgery, and are there complications?

No, tubal reversals are minimally invasive and can be done as an outpatient procedure for a majority of  patients.

Every procedure carries some risk. You might experience bleeding, infection, harm to surrounding organs, or adverse anesthetic reactions, however this is uncommon. A life-threatening disorder in which a fertilized egg develops outside of your womb, ectopic pregnancy is also made more likely by tubal reversal.

Additionally, the fallopian tubes might occasionally become blocked once more in the region where the tubal reversal was performed.

Fertility evaluations for you and your partner to determine if anything might prevent you from becoming pregnant following the tubal reversal

  • Undergo a full physical examination.
  • Fertility tests such as sperm count and sperm analysis to rule out any fertility issues.
  • To ensure that your ovaries are normal, your exam may include blood and imaging tests.
  • A hysterosalpingogram (HSG) will also be required to determine the length and function of your remaining fallopian tubes. An HSG can be performed with dye and X-rays, or with saline and air and ultrasound.

What’s the recovery and postoperative timeline?

Women who have the microsurgical method typically go home the same day, usually within 2 to 4 hours of the surgery being completed.

To alleviate any discomfort, your doctor will prescribe pain relievers. Most women resume their normal activities within two weeks.

What happens during the surgery?

  1. You will receive general anesthesia, so unconscious during the procedure.
  2. A laparoscope, a small, illuminated scope, will be inserted through your belly button and into your pelvis by your doctor. This allows them to examine your fallopian tubes and determine whether reversal surgery is an option for you.
  3. If your doctor decides to perform the reversal, he or she will perform a minor surgical procedure known as a “bikini cut” along your pubic hair line.
  4. They can use microscopic tools attached to the end of the laparoscope to remove any clips or rings that were used to block your tubes, and they can reattach the ends of the tubes to the uterus with extremely tiny stitches.
  5. The procedure usually takes 2 to 3 hours.
