Procedure in which the source of a patient’s pain in the facet joints is located and treated in order to provide relief and allow the patient to withstand the physical therapy required to rehabilitate an injury or back problem. A small amount of anesthetic and/or steroid medication is injected into one point in the facet joint in the cervical, thoracic or lumbar area. This anesthetizes the joint and blocks the pain.
