Celiac Plexus Nerve Block
Surgical procedure performed in order to reduce pain in the abdomen caused by chronic diseases such as cancer, pancreatitis or adhesions. Local anesthetic is injected into the abdominal area in order to block the celiac plexus nerves that would transmit pain signals from the abdomen to the brain. This can be performed as a treatment or as a diagnostic test.
